4 stars Pilgrimage is one of the best Wishbone Ash albums and for me contains their best track The Pilgrim. The slow build up and then the driven sound provides a unique feel, in fact the whole album is something different. Vas Dis is a little odd, but becomes more listenable over time; Valediction, Alone and Lullaby are also great tracks, with the out-and-out rock/blues Jail Bait to complement them. But for prog fans, The Pilgrim and Valediction are the stand-outs. These are the 5 star tracks for me. I've had this album for years and like many artists they've only just got just got back on my playlist, which is a real sound. Like many (reviewers) i lover the twin lead guitar sound which characterised their first 5-6 albums. Much is made of their subsequent demise in the late 70's/80's (not as bas as many, Renaissance ?), but its their early work we love. Looking forward to 22nd April, the Savoy Theatre, Monmouth....

Progressive Blues anyone ?
