4 stars This is a very very strange album, even for avant-garde standards. It sounds like a mix between many forms of jazz, dark cabaret and Zappa-kind-of-music. Most of the compositions are rather short, but they sound quite similar to Henry Cow's works (especially "Western Culture" period) but with the addition of odd vocals.

The two main advantages of this album are the drummer and the vocalist. The drummer has a very good style, providing a lot of magnificent, extremely precise beats which can make your body shake and dance almost instantly. Regarding the vocalist, his style is quite... well, "eccentric" might be the best word for it? He puts a lot of emotions and plays with his voice to the point, in which you rather love it or hate it. The rest of the band is "just" good, the wind instruments and guitar mix together satisfyingly well.

Looking at the cover you can pretty much get the idea how this album sounds like. Definitely not a masterpiece, but still a great and original work, which a lot of avant-heads might find interesting. I rate this one 3,5 stars, rounded up to 4. If you like to explore unconventional and experimental music, give this one a listen, you won't regret it.
