5 stars This album convinced me to create a ProgArchives account - just so I could write a review.

We need more modern music like this, The Tangent is very talented. I won't go through and do a track-by- track rundown, as I'd need a couple more listens to do so. I can say that there aren't any true weak points on this album, it's got good substance all the way through.

I'm trying to figure out how to write this review without heaping excessive praise... But eh, what the hell. The Tangent is one of very few bands that give me the impression that they have broken free of the physical restraints of creating music. I get the feeling that they've mastered the art of moving ideas straight from their minds into your ears, if that makes sense to anyone else.

My favorite track so far is probably Lost in London 25 Years Later. It's got interesting lyrics, a lot of groovy drumming, an excellent flute performance, etc. After making it all the way through the first 7 tracks, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that there are two 20+ minute journeys, back to back, waiting at the end.

Highly recommended, this could be one of 2008's best and it deserves more than 15 ratings.
