Ferocious criticism from the British press towards the great groups of the 70's (and from the same journalists that had praised them not a long time ago) made many of these groups change their musical direction. What a mistake!. One of the most incredible examples is this album. The criticism "Passion play" received made Ian Anderson & Co. record a plain pop-rock album (not a bad thing per se) but with very few brilliant ideas. Fortutately they didn't make the same mistake in the very next album. Anyway, this was the beginning of the downfall.
