2 stars This in't the worst introduction to Deep Purple one could think of, as it covers the bands moregeneric songs across different periods of their history. It's just so... watered down. The chaotic intro of 'Speed King' , for example is missing, and 'Child in Time' is shortened down to a four minute ballad. I hated the track 'Child in Time' when I thought it was just a four minute ballad, but now I've heard the full thing it's my favourite Purple track. This doesn't put across any of the real raw enewrgy that a truly good Purple release should. If I was to make this compilation I would have included the riff-monster that is 'Bloodsucker'. I would have restored 'Child in Time' and 'Speed King' to their original length, and I would have got rid of some of the later tracks to make room for the live version of 'Space Truckin'' from Made in Japan.
