The Lost Chord
5 stars 10/10 Masterpiece

I have waited months, almost a year now, to review this album which I, at first, disliked or just didn't really understand. This album is completely brilliant, and I love it to death. Usually I am not a fan of the chaotic music herein, usually I don't have a strong taste for the likes of ALL of Comus First Utterance or some other insanity music. Jan Dukes pulls off not only an insanity sense here but they even, in my opinion, create their OWN new genre of music. Bringing in elements of melodic symphonic, even if ever so briefly, and combining this with chaos but chaos with balance, we have three of the best songs ever written in their catagory and in any catagory.

Sun Symphonica is my favorite song on the album, and I love the other tracks as well. This music is not for the faint of heart, with EXTREMELy powerful moods and a very dark but energetic feel throughout. The instrumentation used, and the violin, flute and the like all in such a strange arrangement it just blows me away! This music will NEVER be popular, or appreciated on the level it should be...but by God is this completely the most brilliant stuff out there.

For example, when I was stressed out and feeling a little depressed, I could not, NOT listen to this album. It has such a strong vibe to it needing of deep thought and intense integration that I could not even handle it. Let alone anyone not tuned into this type of music AT ALL.

Overall, the album is just perfect and amazing and chaotic and every bit comes together so perfectly. I feel a consistency between the vibe of each song, unlike some people who may say this is folkier than this or whatever...I think every song has bits and pieces from everywhere and this is what makes the album so incredible. If you are at all interested in psychedelic rock or acidy, darkish progish stuff...check em out, this album is incredible and deserves your listen!
