4 stars Well, I won't write as much as the others here, but I must say, upon first listening of this, I LOVE IT!

This is so original, and a nice blend of progressive, experimental, jazz-rock, and just good musicianship. In fact, I enjoy this quite a lot better (now don't kill me here!) than Kansas. Yes, I like Kansas, but this is so much more freer and original (remember! IMHO)

I guess it's the saxophone instead of the violin that I really like, as it adds a nice VDGG flare to the whole mix, and hearkens back to the days of If and groups like them.

Anyway, whether or not you are a big fan of Kansas, the original recording of Proto-Kaw is quite a good opening act for and compliment for what was/is the wonderful group Kansas.
