After the success of "The Grand Illusion," Styx had a tough act to follow...but they manage to pull it off with "Pieces of Eight." Though the album stumbles a little in the middle with "The Message/Lords of the Ring," the rest of the CD is brilliant, showing Styx to be a band that can both rock hard and play softly all in the same album and make it seem completely natural.
