BRIGHT MIDNIGHT: LIVE IN AMERICA

Sometime ago i found this album with a low price and decided to buy it, actually i think i would´ve buy it at any price, since then i actually have not listened to it that often, but it is always a nice listening for somebody like me that like The Doors a lot, this is the band i have loved since i was kid and discovered what we call rock.

This album consists in a compilation of some songs that were performed in concert in 1969 and 1970, so it´s like a live compilation, some of these songs were also included in the Absolutely Live album and all the tracks were taken from concerts in several cities from The USA, to be more exact and reading the book of my CD, these are performances from Philadelphia, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Hollywood, New York and Boston, there is also a medley of Love me Two Times /Baby Please Don´t Go / St. james Infirmary performed in the Bakersfield Stage Recording.

The album called Bright Midnight, Live in America features 13 songs that and a total of more than 70 minutes of music, and the origin of this release was that some fans were demanding that dozens of The Doors concerts were profesionally recorded, so then this was released due to that.

In a couple of songs the audio quality is not the best, while in others we can listen to a clean and pure performance, as you can imagine and knowing Jim Morrison and his acts, the lenght of the most of the songs are extended than in the studio albums, there are some improvisation moments, good musicianship in some instrumental lapses, and i believe the songs performed here give to The Doors fans some intimate moments with the band. The songs here are well known ones, opening with a good version of Light my Fire, going through Back Door Man, Five to One, Break on Through, Roadhouse Blues and finishing with a magnific live version of The End, pure bliss in this last one.

The album itself though the people who released it say it´s the best from their tour in USA, i think i have heard better versions in other live albums, this is not a live album for a beginner, i actually would say that this is mostly for The Doors fans, but...since it´s a good listening i will give it 3 stars, good but non-essential.
