4 stars A real great album wich deserves his place between the other established Prog albums. I have to permit that thes guys realy got it. It is a real Symphonic album with al lot of tempo changes in it and it surprises me all the time. Unfolded Like staircase is a sollid album with 5 songs on it. Ofcourse some of the songs are large compositions as we know from other Progressive bands. Maybe the arragements could have been better but it has it's charme. It is logical to explain since the band has a lack of money those days I suppose. This will be confermed by the text in the booklet of the cd, when they give their thankword to Drew Meiers for the use of his saxaphone wich is used by Matthew Parmenter on this album. (I am wondering myself wich Sax he used on their last "live" record: "Into the dream...") David Sanborn's??? The lyrics are good and are on a equal level with the rest of the instruments. I can recommend this album to anyone who loves Progressive Symphonic Rock.
