4 stars I got into Echolyn just recently, and am beginning to apreciate it more and more. I acquired some downloads from their website, and from this site aswel before taking the leap into purchasing their records. And I must say I like what I hear (understatement).

The ever present accoustic guitar together with the elaborate drum rhythms gives it a folky-Jazzy sound, somewhat similar to the sounds of Gentle Giant and occasional Genesis tunes. I especially like the drumming on this album. The melodies seem to be fluid, ever changing, volatile, with great musical skills from the members, with some orchestral arrangements through the songs. The vocal lines are just awsome. Echolyn managed to alternate between soft, mellow tunes to more hard-hitting symphonic pieces, and maintain a cohesive sound throughout.

This album calls for repetive listenings, and on each listening a little more of the secrets are revealed. I don't know all of their releases yet, so I can't comment whether this is their best album, but it is a good enough introduction for me. And I'll be buying more from this amazing band shortly. 41/2 stars Absolutely recommended
