1 stars There is not much to say about this album that hasn't been said, but I feel as if a review is a requirement.

Terrible. That is my word to describe this less than trippy (or way too trippy) and repetitive PT album. I'm a huge fan of the band and have gotten a hold of everything that I can, but this was definitely a disappointment. It hurts to give a great band such a low score, but this album is deserving of only 1 star.

The first and third Phases seem to drag on and on without much in the way of direction, and while they possess some gripping points, they fail to capture attention for very long at all. The second Phase is the most entertaining, but I can never focus on it for the full 17 minutes. The fourth and final Phase is similar to the second in that it is fun and entertaining, but not worth the time and effort by the time you reach 10 minutes.

This album is certainly not recommended as an introduction to Porcupine Tree. The die-hard PT fans should take a look, but don't expect to be blown away. It will excite you at first, as Steven Wilson always does, but with this album you'll struggle to reach the end.
