2 stars Even if you think you do know BOWIE after all those changes you're wrong; this record shows some unexpected confusing themes, which are hard to get a grip on. Before listening to this record you should take a good look to the cover; this gives a good inpression of what will happen to you by listening to it! In some way you could name this music psychedelic: to produce a work like this you gotta be influenced by the better kind of psychedelics.

This record contains some eastern and dance influences, with sometimes a psychedelic feel. The songs stay very songwise however and most of the songs don't really work. I miss a larger vision and IMO Bowie was having a downfall from Low to this record. It became more weird, but less catchy.

All with all, this is a very confusing record. It's not the best work BOWIE has delivered, but maybe one of the most interesting, because of its weirdness. Only recommended for fansof Bowie. Better try out first Low and Heroes.
