5 stars Great! Finally! Metallica is here on the good ol' Archives.

Anyway...moving on. The songs are labyrinthine, with arrangements to confuse even the most seasoned metalhead, and I'm sure that many a thrash nut cried sell-out upon hearing the quiet, delicate acoustic intro to what is one of the discs best known songs, Battery. Well, all that's swept away upon hearing the massive distortion and thunderous beats a little over a minute later. Soon, heads are banging, fists are punching the sky and all is good in thrash land.

But, wait...the 'Tallica throws a curve ball with the title track. An alomost 9-minute affair dealing with the trials and tribulations of drug abuse, the morose interlude leaves one in despair, until the chanted bridge and then the lead guitar take at furious speed.

What else can I say that won't be said? This is a definite desert island disc, make no bones about it.
