2 stars Just a few bands had the guts to release a triple vinyl live record. Santana, Yes and ELP did it and they all had some succes by doing so. If ELP had added an extra vinyl to this liverepertoire, they could have recorded their whole studio discography till then! This record contains Tarkus as a whole and a lot of material of Brain Salad Surgery alive. These belong to my favourite ELP records so I expected some good entertainment with this record. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

While Emerson, Lake and Palmer play tight and Greg Lake's vocals are fine I'd have some troubles with the livesound of this record. I haven't seen anyone mentioning it, but in my opinion the production is not so good. The bass sounds "empty" and the music sounds flat. This is just a bit better then the average bootleg quality, but far less good then Magma Live, Gentle Giant's - Playing the Fool or Genesis Live. Even Pink Floyd's Umma Gumma sounds better to my ears.

I think I'll keep it just to the studio recordings of ELP. I quess this was not meant for me, but for all those fans who did see them alive.
