V - THE NEW MYTHOLOGY SUITE

I purchased V: THE NEW MYTHOLOGY SUITE about a year ago (it is still the only Symphony X album I have bought) after hearing some other Symphony X music. I mostly bought V: A NEW MYTHOLOGY SUITE because it was the highest rated Symphony X album on Prog Archives at the time. Boy was I disappointed! This album to me is very boring and, though musically proficient, Michael Romeo and Co. just don't craft decent songs. Everything here is over the top--as usual--and there is little music on here that is particularly interesting to my ears. Overall, I would pick THE ODYSSEY or THE DIVINE WINGS OF TRAGEDY over this any day. GRADE: D+ (68%)
