4 stars '2000 Microgramms From Home' marks the debut of Lorenzo Woodrose's DRAGONTEARS project. Originally playing stoner rock in the band BABY WOODROSE the musicians are turning deep into the psych/space territory here. Heavy rocking elements are taking a backseat and instead of that we have tons of echo guitar and vocals, dreamy spaced out sounds presented in a hypnotic mood. I started to listen to the band with the follower 'Tambourine Freak Machine' first and it totally convinced me and therefore was praised with five stars. Surely a heavy load for this debut album which contains six songs representing a vinyl length of nearly 40 minutes.

Woodrose dominates with his song writing skills and excellent vocals - distorted a little bit but charming anyhow. The first four songs are shorter dreamy excursions controlled by acoustic and quirky electric guitars, glockenspiel and spacey synth and organ patterns. Borderline gets out of the range presenting 60s psychedelia references backed by a simple beat. This is very melodic by the way and defenitely inviting for singing along. Suitable for a science fiction movie the short Heliodrone is dominated by synths which are sounding like spaceship machines. And then the album also holds the long jam The Doors Of Prescription - a spacey trip showing a simple repetitive rhythm and lots of variations by guitar and vocals over the course of time - hypnotic, floating and relaxed grooving. Some samples are integrated which brings more varity. For me the ultimate highlight - great song!

Compared to the following album 'Tambourine Freak Machine' this is not that tricky as for my impression, less spiked with experimental ideas. Nevertheless it's a very good listenable album for fans of psychedelic and spacey trips. Unfortunately DRAGONTEARS is a studio project what I know and the chance to enjoy this music live on a stage is very very small - but never say never ...
