3 stars Listeting to Scream Bloody Gore is a sentimental journey to me. I'm not finding excellent technical riffs on here or even good production. But in 1987 Death were truly solid metal band and pioneer of really heavy and groundbreaking music. This is probably the first true death metal album cos it's heavier and much more morbid than first Possessed release. Songs like Zombie Ritual, Evil Dead or Scream Bloody Gore are very good. In fact all of them sound pretty much the same maybe with exeption of Evil Dead (intro to this song is more in classical heavy metal style) and Zombie Ritual which is more complex than others (and also catchy as for death metal tune). Even liking next Death albums more than this one I still appreciate this first effort. Maybe not a must but if you are 'historical metal guy' you should know this. Birth of a tension;)
