SOUTH SATURN DELTA

The ''Hendrix LLC'' which took the rights of Jimi's heritage already released a fine compilation album with ''First Rays Of The New Rising Sun''.

Most of the numbers featured here were already released but for the casual fan this would be a cheap way to get them on a single CD. The worst track of all is a very basic version of ''Little Wing''. Fully instrumental, I really wonder what was the use of its inclusion (but it was unreleased - guess why?).

Another unreleased track is the jazzy ''South Saturn Delta''. I can't say that I 'm thrilled with this number. On the contrary: press next is the best option. The worst track here (and one of all Jimi's career is definitely ''The Stars That Play?''. This is an awful and loudly track which would have better been avoided. Gosh!

The LLC already put ''First Rays?'' on the market some months prior to this one. For the casual fan, this might well be a good option. Instead of investing in several posthumous studio albums of the great man, this is a cheap option. Of course, if you are a devoted fan, this one has little interest.

This compilation is not a great album and fully confirms my thoughts about the more ''legitimate'' role of this LLC managed by Jimi's half sister. IMHHO, it is just another cash machine as there were many after Jimi's death.

Dear Janie just re-marketed what was already available. Period.

At least for this ''South Saturn Delta''. But I've been fooled many other times.

To the very devoted fans, I would recommend you to get ''Cry Of Love'', ''Rainbow Bridge'' and ''War Heroes'' instead. These were almost genuine albums and this compilation is of little interest to my ears (probably because I own lots of Hendrix records).

Some fine work during ''Tax Free'' is to be noticed and belongs to the best of this compilation. Just as the Dylan cover ''All Along the Watchtower'' which isn't that bad as often described. One of my fave (but I have already mentioned this) Is the great instrumental ''Pali Gap''. One of the most moving Hendrix instrumental. But the man knew how to be performing of course. I just feel sad because I don't have any live and extended version of this huge track.

Only two stars for this work.
