5 stars This live compilation is simply excellent. Porcupine XM would have been even greater if it had had Russia On Ice in its finely-woven set of songs. But there is no doubt that XM will make you crawl with praise for Steven Wilson and the band after a few listenings. Although i wish it lacked Russia track it still have some other crushing numbers of great relevance. For example, i am fascinated with titanic drumming in the older songs like Tinto Brass, Even Less and Slave Called Shiver. Gavin Harrison hits the drums like mad as if he had the power of ten Bill Brufords. The In Absentia part also sounds fresh and effervescing and slightly stronger than on the studio album. There is no point in persuading anybody for too long becuase XM is a must position for aficionados of blastful porcupine soundscapes. Highly recommended!!!
