3 stars As for this album, the performance with a very modern feature including the musician who participated in the recording is progressed in the work of Trio that Pat Metheny left. In "Rejoicing" and "Question And Answer", Jazz of the quality of the level that was shape to show deference to musicians whom he respected while keeping the form of Trio was developed. And, the shape of Trio that he creates in the career of Pat in recent years becomes this album and it is born. Bass player's Larry Grenadier is active to Trio of Brad Mehldau for years as the regular. Pat has appointed Larry in shape respectfully in Brad and Larry and to achieve it. They unite back and, of course, offer wonderful music. Drum player's Bill Stewart had already competed with Pat. It is said that Drum of Bill blew in a new wind to Jazz in recent years. The complex rhythm always gives the listener the excitement and always carves an accurate beat. Pat really enjoys this new Trio. It appears to an overwhelming dash feeling of "Lone Jack" of the challenge and own tune in "Giant Steps" of Coltrane. The technique for freely manipulating fast and slow is a good field of Pat. It is a result of a high creation of the quality that Pat really challenged from the angle besides "PMG". It ..exploding intro.. did not pass aiming at and live this album. Of course, we can be satisfied of the taste of Pat such as "Soul Cowboy" and "The Sun In Montreal". Pat is answered in the interview at this time. "I want to enjoy performing in small space" It develops into Quartet with Brad when this uncommon challenge's accompanied by the highest line, developing into Trio, and forcing it. This album might project in the work of Trio that he left to some degree.
