2 stars A poor harvest

Back we go again to dig up the Harvest Years albums by BJH, and repackage a selection of the tracks yet again. Don't get me wrong the music is excellent, even if the track choices are at times dubious.

"Mocking bird", probably BJH's most famous track appears only in edited form here. It is interesting too that average tracks such as "Vanessa Simmons" and "Harry's song" are chosen in preference to classics like "Summer soldier" and "She said". Thus the tracks are generally the shorter ones from the source albums. They are joined by several non album tracks, some of which were bundled together on the 1970's "Early morning onwards" compilation, and a couple which have only seen the light of day in recent times.

In general terms, this album fails to excite, omitting as it does most of the essential tracks from BJH's early days. Save your money for more worthy compilations, or even better the original albums.
