4 stars Return to form with an eye on current sound of music. Hackett created one of his last classic progressive rock albums and cared for two immortal classics: "Every day" and the title track. The good-hearted "Every day" has a Genesis feel with its organ chords and nice guitar soloing. Hackett's voice here is quite good. The guitar solo remotely reminds of "Firth of the fifth". "The virgin and the gypsy" has the typical Hackett hooks with nice vocal work and epic chorus with synths. The next track is a rare excursion of Hackett into Japanese territory. Still, it reminds me of "Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers" from Wind & Wuthering. "Clocks" is a heavier instrumental track, could be a brother of "A Tower Struck Down" but this one is better because of melody and guitar solo. "Lost time in Cordoba" is an exquisite acoustic piece with guitar and a brass instruments. The guitar easily sets a relaxed but focused mood. "Tigermoth" is not the easiest track to comprehend but hail to Hackett experimentation with synths and guitar effects. The sung part is not very well done, I like more the guitar strumming after that. "Spectral mornings" unveils slowly to reveal a killer guitar line with melancholy emotions. Pity that there isn't a bit more change in the track but still it is a deserved classic. An essential Hackett solo album.
