THE EMPATHY MACHINE

This release is such a pleasant surprise, during this year of COVID-19. Very truthful, relaxing, and yet potent. The singing is superb, and the spoken word is perfect. The very "feel" of this is what is needed right now (at least for me.)

The keyboard / guitar playing are tasty and dreamy, and yet not too far from the path. The highlight for me here is the surround mix. It is all encompassing, but again, not to the point of distraction. Just heavenly.

This is one of those albums that takes a look over its shoulder at the highlights of the past in prog / almost new wave, but really adds its own stamp of creativity for today's times and needs.
