ARE WE EXPERIMENTAL?

This is experimental music for sure, mixing pure noice, speaking voices, screaming guitars using every thinkable pedal, small funny melodies Frank Zappa style, Synthesizers Hallucination Imitation, all this within the first two tracks.

The 3nd. track a bit diffrent, still a base of maddness but now with opera style singing struggling to make it too the surface, but offcourse suffocating in pure acid. The best track to far, found my attention, interesting.

Are we Experimental ? - ohh Yes we are !

After that a 7.15 min stoner rock track, not bad if you like the genre. Ok bass line, overwhelming guitars, drums and vocals hitten somewhere in there, but not easy to seperate. Again Synthesizers mixed in too.

Then a short track, with a funny melody, some Japaneese tradition evident here, nice. But also sending thoughts too some of the acustic tracks from Physical Graffiti

"Lyomange Of The Rising Sun" Are we Experimental ? - Still we are, but the confusion is not total anymore, small melodic lines start pop'n up, getting closer to a "progressive improvisation" than a hallucination. Vocals singing, or at least something quite similar to singing. But dont get me wrong - We are experimental.

"Close Encounters Of The Electric Spirits", starts with a Synthesizers, strange sound, and running left-right all the time. On top of this a Flute (eeeh prob not a real flute) playing very traditionally. Impossible to explain how that sounds together.

"Holy Rock'n'Roll Bible" Starting out with a very rock-n-roll guitar melody, so are we not Experimental anymore ?, not compared to what we came from, but dont play it to your girlfriend anyway ! Seriusly we are moving towards more straight music, but with strange vocals, and a wide use of synthesizer effects. The effects themself, sounds like those used by "The Mars Volta", but the music is very diffrent from TMV. More in the line of "Pere Ubu", or even Hüsker Dü

"Goodbye Big Asshole Emmanuelle", Wow what a shift, now we are closing in on the Jazz/Rock genre. But we are still Experimental, especially in the last 1/2 of the track.

"Ultimate Unhip Blues" Back to the Stoner rock genre, with an 8 min+ track of allmost constant guitar solo's, again not bad if you like the kinda rock track, with an OK bass line, topped with guitar solo'ing.

Last the titel track. "Are We Experimental" , Yes, but this time in a slow meditative mood, quite relaxing infact. I like this one. ! got a more pleasent vocal that any other track on the album.

OK - We are experimental, and thats what we wanted to be ! But does that make up for a great album ? No i dont think so, this is only for listners interested in extreem music/sound, most people would leave the room, after 1-2 min.

As said above, there's a few tracks that i like, even a few i like a lot. But too much of this is too absurd.

2 stars is what ill give it, its not bad within the context it so clearly defines, but its a collecters only.
