4 stars In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson is what many people consider to be the birthplace of prog, and I cant really argue. Its at the very least a early masterpiece of the genre. You hear a bit of jazz influence, which that will progress any music genre, and its a very welcome addition, it makes the music fresh, interesting and fun. The instrumentation from everyone in the band is excellent and the production is great. But of course everyone complains about the ending segment in moonchild, which I get completely, its not the funnest listen. And its really the only thing holding it back from a 5 star but it is still definitely a essential in any prog collection because every other song is still a masterpiece. 4.5/5
