2 stars Completely acoustic and stripped down album, Larry Coryell and Philip Catherina prove to be a fitting and intelligent match. Stripped down acoustic music reveals the tone, colour and style of playing. Here, both guitarists have a clean tone. There are equilibristic moments such as on "Homecoming", but overall the music is mainly peaceful. "Airpower" is a notable exception where the lead guitar is very dynamic. "Gloryell" has a beautiful shining and peaceful atmosphere. Django Reinhardt covers are mastered with grace. Bonus tracks are fine but non-essential. On "Deus Xango", we finally have another instrument, piano and relaxing fretless bass. This is a good album for those willing to explore acoustic classical and jazz-oriented music with guitars only.
