3 stars Fire Merchants s/t has more straight-up metal axe-rock leaning towards David Chastain shred via Goodsall & he even echos a frenetic Joe Walsh-ness on "Ignition". There's nearly no fusion constructs here but Goodsall's axe is still doing that ferocious chromatic riffage of a million notes a second like his Brand X burning he let loose on Livestock. I rate it at a solid 8.5 outta 10 with tracks "Ignition" and "Z104" being worth the purchase to hear Goodsall blow.

Honestly, I was disappointed with this release, expecting more of a fusion fest but it never really happened anywhere. If you like great instrumental rock guitar -- then you will enjoy this release.
