5 stars A REALLY UNDERESTIMATED ALBUM

The score obtained by this album is not a disaster, but this work of music should really deserve a higher one. It was maligned by two events: first the winning of a prize related to the best metal album of the year, in 1987, I guess. As there is no intense heavy metal issues in its content (if there is really any), it immediately created a rejection. Jethro Tull was never a heavy metal band, so receiving this prize really made no sense. Metallica, its bandīs oppositor, should have won the contest, they are a competent heavy metal band.

The other problem is the presence of that sound of the eighties, so rejected in progressive rock community. And it appears immediately, in the albumīs opener, Steel Monkey. Not a bad song, I really like it but a bit far away of being a solid opener for a Jethro Tull album.

After that opener, the album presents a bunch of excellent and masterpiece songs. Farm On A Freeway, She Said She Was a Dancer and Budapest are may preferred ones, and I had to agree with my son that Crest Of A Knave MAYBE is a better album than my favorite Minstrel In The Gallery After several masterpieces in the seventies, only two album really made me fall in love with which are Crest Of A Knave and Roots To Branches. There is only another review scoring 5 stars; this is a 4,5 stars album, but it deserves to be rounded up even because Jethro Tull is really my favorite band of all times.
