5 stars Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is, as far as I'm concerned, the second longest Dream Theater album, clocking at ninety six minutes. The album is divided in two CD's, the second one comprised of a single suite. To be fair, this isn't my favorite Dream Theater album. Is it one of their best? Hell yes it is!

Being one of their heaviest records too, this album can be quite inaccessible to most progressive rock fans that don't dig heavy riffs that's much, but for a progressive metal fan this is for sure essential. Peak performances and musicality are present in this album from beginning to end, and the absence of weak links make it a truly solid effort.

One could think that calling it a masterpiece would be a little too far, but an album that perfectly encapsulates the genre and on top of it adds new twists and tricks is for sure worthy of that title. With that said, it's a masterpiece for me. One of my favorite Dream Theater records.
