5 stars Review # 114: I discover Drifting Sun with the release of Trip the Life Fantastic and I have been following their releases since then. Right now, their only album that is missing from my music collection is their first one, so I dare say that I know their music quite well.

First of all, no album is the same with the next or previous one. Yes, the main style is (actually was) there, but each album sounds different. Some are more jolly than others, some more melancholic, some include "catchy" tunes, some others don't, and so on...

When I heard about the release of Forsaken Innocence I was very glad for two reasons: First of all, a new release from Drifting Sun is always welcome, but above all I was pleasantly surprised by the collaboration between DS and Jargon (the leader of the Greek band Verbal Delirium).

Because I am from Greece, I know the music of Verbal Delirium very well, because they are one of my most beloved local bands. Also, last year Jargon released his debut solo album, which blew me away! It was one of the best 3 albums of 2020 for me. So, if you sum these things up, you can understand why I instantly ordered the vinyl limited version of Forsaken Innocence; but because my vinyl copy will delay a little bit, DS sent me the whole album in digital format.

If I have to be completely honest, I should say that it took me a few days to get familiar with the new sound of DS, because the style is changed once more, in order to fit Jargon's voice. The album is dark in general; dark and wonderful! The compositions are superb, and production excellent and Jargon's performance is stellar once more! Starting with the 11-minute-long King of the Country, up to the 2.5-minutes-long Time to Go, Forsaken Innocence is one of the albums that will make the difference this year! Let's hope that this collaboration will continue, because the first outcome of it is simply wonderful!

Favorite tracks: King of the Country, Insidious, Dementium, New Dawn, Forsaken Innocence Pt.1, Time to Go. 5 Stars from me.
