4 stars 1+1=1 / a simple equation, and then there is a sinister album cover. Hence, at a first glance, superficially seen, you might not detect any reference to the open-minded song writing attitude offered here. Curiosity has to be great in the consequence to stuck on this, or somebody will recommend the album to you with considerable enthusiasm, yeah! I could not find anything substantial about the conceptional context, and the lyrics are as cryptic as usual in most cases. Nah, nothing to hold on to for a longer time. Not a problem anyway, when the music convinces. After a longer hiatus Seattle based Zakkary Hale aka 'The Magus' had formed a new MELODRAMUS crew featuring Sierra Rae (keys, vocals), Samuel Hopkins (bass) and drummer Max Dail. Prominent songwriting skills meet brilliant guitar playing and stellar vocals. The song material obviously has matured during the past years.

It's not conspiciously often really that you will come across such a versatile and appealing production. While not limited to a specific rock music style, this album has plenty to offer in terms of quantity and quality, the compositional attitude and technical finesse. Exemplarily Angels And Demons will serve a proper reference concerning that. Sierra Rae occupies the vocal lead here, drive and flow are priceless, guitar wizzardness on top. Both album centered Ascension parts are definitely exceptional too. The lovely Smile shines with inspiration and variety. And I'm always filled with enthusiasm when listening to the Green Man. Just pick up that portion of humour '... this is the last time that we turn and run away from lovin' our mistakes ...' 1+1=4.5 well deserved stars!
