SPACE REVOLVER

Their previous release "Flower Power" was a double album filled with so much great music that I wondered if the next one could possibly be as good. Well the answer was it could! With new bass-player Jonas Reingold it got even better than before. Not that Michael Stolt was bad in any way, but Reingold is a class or two above and the music on this album clearly benefits from that. Rougher and heavier than ever before, but also at times more experimental, The Flower Kings once again managed to blend complexity and instrumental dexterity with sharp songwriting skills and a strong feeling for melodies to create another very strong album. Perhaps even their strongest to date. This album just about has it all, wonderful melodies with surprising twists and turns, ranging from jazz-fusion through to heavy rock and soft ballads - mixing the accessible with the complex in that patented Flower Kings style. This is simply a masterpiece.
