4 stars Sophomore effort from this Swedish ensemble, and a more than decent effort it is too. No such thing as the second album syndrome to trace on this production.

The music explored is a peculiar variety of art pop first and foremost. Similarities to acts like Radiohead, U2 and a-ha are easily detectable - elements of indie rock and new wave are found throughout this effort. The compositions are structured more like 70's art rock affairs though, with a few passing nods to the art rock bands of yesteryear. A neat final touch to the proceedings are textured instrument layers, and many songs are pretty close to post rock as far as the instrumentation goes.

Strong, melodic and distinct lead vocals is the final ingredient in this mix, and similar to mainstream-oriented bands they have a dominant position in the final mix. The instruments more often than not serve as a backdrop for the vocals, albeit in a more sophisticated manner than the regular chart toppers exploring mainstream rock territories.

Overall a strong album, recommended to followers of art pop and sophisticated rock music with distinct mainstream tendencies.
