3 stars A new discovery for me.

This band from Italy have a long list of influences listed in the booklet. Which is both an honorable and a nice thing to do. I would personally mention three names on this list which sums up their sound: VDGG, Genesis and Pink Floyd. In particular VDGG. Michele Epifani's vocals sometime comes across as a straight copy of Peter Hammil. Which is not a bad thing in my mind. As a whole, VDGG has a lot to answer for on this, Areknames debut album.

This is by no means a negative reflection on this album. It really has some good stuff going for it. The Genesis like tangent playing by Michele Epifani is excellent. The songs are not always up to scratch though. I am more impressed by the sound than the songs, let me put it that way. There is no real signature tracks here and no real weak tracks too. This album is somewhere between good and great. Maybe if given more time, I would rate it as great. But it is still a good album. It is an excellent album for all fans of RPI and VDGG. If your musical preferences fits one of these labels, you should purchase this album.
