4 stars This is a very interesting album from Bass Communion, the (most) experimental project from Porcupine Tree mainman Steven Wilson, this time in collaboration with PIG, who contributes with noises and weird sounds. I guess it is a live album, but you won't notice it when listening, perhaps just a different ambiance. Live in Mexico was first released on limited vinyl, but those who were too slow (including me) can buy the download and burn a CD. Close enough (I will still look for the vinyl though).

Both sides consist of a long pieces, 1 also haves a short introductionary piece. 1A kicks in with some chilling guitar sounds, but ends quickly. 1B stars out with some loud noises a la PIG, and soon there is a heavy guitar drone that combined with PIG sounds like a broken spaceship taking off, or something (you tell me). 2 is a calmer piece with a guitar in the back and main focus on the various sounds of PIG, very spacey and psychedelic. Both sides are very interesting, original and experimental. The BC configuration guitar + laptop is one of the most versatile, as heard on the fantastic companion release Molotov and Haze. If you are reading this you probably are more or less into that kind of music so this is a good (and cheap, 4 or 5 quid + whatever you pay for a CDr) realease by my favourite SW project. Get it now and be amazed, stunned and confused. (9- out of 10)
