5 stars Trespass by Genesis was released in 1970. Which makes it early album in the history of progressive rock. I can confidently say that it is a masterpiece of progressive rock. The album's complex and intricate tracks showcase the band's incredible musicianship and songwriting skills. Each song is filled with lush, intricate arrangements, haunting melodies, and poetic lyrics that explore themes of isolation, and other topics. This is definitely different than what comes next but is still just as good.

The album opens with "Looking for Someone," which features some great musicianship, complex time signatures, and evocative lyrics. Other standout tracks include "Stagnation," which features a beautiful guitar and piano duet, and "The Knife," an epic, seven-minute track that builds to a thrilling climax.

Overall, "Trespass" is a brilliant album that showcases Genesis' creativity and innovation in the progressive rock genre. Its lush instrumentation, poetic lyrics, and haunting melodies make it a must-listen for fans of the genre. I give it five stars and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a masterful example of progressive rock at its best. 5 stars!
