The Snowdog
4 stars This was the 1977 tour that ELP had an orchestra accompanying them. While the Works material can't hold a candle to what was presented in Welcome Back My Friends in 1974, this is still a very good live album. The sound quality is great and so is the musicianship. This is an album that needs to be appreciated for what it is and not for what lacks compared to Welcome Back My Friends. All the elements of ELP are stil there: Carl's ridiculous drumming, Keith's godlike command of any keyboard he looks at and Greg's expert bass and vocals. However, if you don't have Welcome Back My Friends you should look into that first because it is better. If you have the A Time and A Place box set this is kind of a redundant acquisition as A Time and A Place already has this tour on it.
