4 stars i guess you could say frank zappa is not for everybody. he is definitely for me. this album may not be the greatest piece of music ever created. but it is good music. and, unlike zappa's peers, he stood for something real, he wasn't a drug-abusing hypocrit, and his music always seems to have a positive feel to it. this album is the beginning of probably the greatest musical genius in rock and probably in all genres of the 20th century. the best way to describe these songs is how zappa himself describes them within the liner notes of the album, the lyrics are very witty and he makes excellent use of a variety of semi-mainstream sounds and concepts and creates his own thing with it. the highlights of the album, to me, are: i ain't got no heart who are the brain police? how could i be such a fool help, i'm a rock

every song on this album is enjoyable, however, not zappa's best.
