3 stars I jumped into the sonic landscape of TDSOFM Redux, and my journey left me with mixed emotions. While the album didn't exactly set my soul on fire, it certainly didn't leave me entirely indifferent either.

To begin with, the single "Money" didn't quite resonate with me, and I held onto hope that the subsequent tracks might steer the album in a different direction. Yet, to my disappointment, the overall tone of the album seemed to be a haunting and unvarying descent into darkness. It appeared as though Roger Waters had meticulously stripped away the contributions of his fellow Pink Floyd comrades, replacing them with his own spoken messages.

From a musical perspective, this version of the album failed to spark my curiosity or ignite my interest. Waters' vocals remained consistently low and gravely throughout the entire album, creating a persistent somber atmosphere. I couldn't help but wonder if, had this been the original rendition, it would have achieved the same level of success. After all, the original Pink Floyd's charm lay in the collective synergy of talents, from Gilmour's guitar solos to the soulful saxophone melodies and Clare Torry's transcendent vocals, not to mention the ingenious keyboard work that permeated the entirety of the original masterpiece.

It's worth noting that "On the Run" and "Any Colour You Like," two personal favorites of mine, were radically altered and, sadly, lost their magic in the process. While I applaud Waters for his continued artistic endeavors and his penchant for reimagining albums, this particular album left me somewhat disillusioned.

In the end, while TDSOFM Redux carries its own unique flavor and message, it couldn't capture the enchantment of the original. Nonetheless, it's heartening to witness Waters' dedication to his craft, even if this particular work fell short of my expectations. Two and half stars for me.
