5 stars Frank Zappa's band in 1974 consisted of a selection of highly educated and skillfull musicias... The band had the talents of Chester Thompson on drums (later Genesis), George Duke (Keyboard and vocals) Ruth Underwood (Marimba and percursions) Nappy (lead vocals, sax and flute) and Tom Fowler (Bass).

As Zappa comments on the liner notes, the band was so tight by the date of the Helsinki Concert that all songs are played in high speed tempo... The album has the basic track which found its way into the rendemption of Inca Roads found on the "One Size Fits All" Zappa classic, with extended guitar solo (one of the most signature representative of his skills on electric guitar)... The songs are all played with gusto and there is plenty of improvisation throughtout it, reaching a apoteotic climax in songs as RDNZL and Dupree's Paradise... The rythmic session plays really funky and the lead instruments "break everything up"...

There is also the presence of Zappa's sense of humor with situations regarding odd happenings in the road, which in this case involves an affair with the road manager or whatever being harrassed in the hotel in FInland for having some "scorts"... The theatrical improv is very much worth...

To top all of it, in the encore, Zappa is about to launch the song Montana, when a guy in the audience keeps screming for "Whippin Post" from the Allman Bros, which induces a new version of Montanas (Whippin Floss)...

A must for any Frank Zappa fan and a very important listen to any music lover...

Peace from Brasil
