4 stars This is the charming third album from Yuka Funakoshi's prog ensemble. Keyboards are naturally prominent given Yuka's role as bandleader, but Takashi Miyazawa's guitar performance also stands out. Whilst the concept has its spacey aspects, this isn't particularly space rock-oriented in style; if anything, it feels like it's blending the production precision and technical polish of jazz fusion with the classic prog influences of neo-prog. You might have heard a bunch of this sort of thing in the past if you're a prog fan, but the careful execution here really helps make The 3rd Planetary Chronicles stand out within a crowded and busy field.
