3 stars As a collection of Todd Rundgren's most popular tracks, this is a good representation. As far as a collection of his best work, this misses many of the songs I would have included (Black Maria would be at the top of the list). So this CD set, released when Todd's entire back catalog, from the early Nazz albums up through "A Cappella" were re-released on Rhino, would be an excellent starting point for a fan of Rundgren's pop favorites.

The first disk has the better tracks, as his early seventies work includes most of his better albums. As a pop musician, Todd wrote quite a few very catchy singles, like We Gotta Get You A Woman (which I remember for that way one line pissed of my liberated mother at the time), Hello It's Me and It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference are all nice tunes with great lyrics.

The second disk begins well, with Real Man and Black And White starting the CD with the best songs on this disk. The album shows Rundgren's deteriorating songwriting styles, culminating in the dismal Bang The Drum All Day (a song that probably get's the most airplay these days instead of all of the great music he made).

2.5 stars, rounded up.
