4 stars Highly recommended album of poorly known band from Poland. The stylistic divergency and rhythmic variability of "The Serpent Design" could be easy linked with productions of "Pain of Salvation". Note, that style of Eternal Deformity is significantly different when compared with other metal-oriented, modern progressive bands from Poland, like well-known "Riverside" or "Indukti". Agressive instrumental passages, dark mood and black-metal vocals ("Starsailor", "Field of Glory") are balanced by melodic inventiveness in certain smoother tracks ("Sea of Love", "Release me"). Instrumental proficiency and interesting guitar lines (in my opinion much better than keyboard lines) are well empasized by very high sound quality of recording. Instrumental arrangement is highly diverse and sophisticated, in certain tracks some ethnic sounds and even dance rhythms ("Usoa") are present. Four stars.
