2 stars Roxy Music goes Duran Duran! Manifesto contains some New Romantic songs and some slower, more atmospheric songs, but always with a dance beat around somewhere. There are some catchy melodies (Dance Away, Aint That So, Still Falls the Rain), but most of the songs sound alike and are a bit boring. The only adventurous track is the title track, which is also the best track. I used to hate this album. Recently I listened to it once again and I must admit it is not as bad as I remembered. Some tracks do have a special kind of atmosphere and although it sounds very commercial compared to the previous albums, it still does not sound completely normal. But I still think this is the least interesting album Roxy Music has made. If you like the poppy side of Roxy Music, buy Siren or Avalon instead.
