I think it is pretty fair to assume that even David Bowie regard this album as a turkey. He had a massive success with Let's Dance and someone, either he or someone else who were earning a lot of dollars on his commercial successes, wanted to rush out an album as fast as possible after Let's Dance. The result is Tonight.

The title track is a duet with Tina Turner. Everyone was recording duets with her at that time and David Bowie was no exception. The result is an abysmal horrible song. The rest, with the exception of the half-decent Blue Jean, is in the same quality bracket. Abysmal.

The music is commercial 1980s pop-rock with a huge slant of Las Vegas. Remember Elvis Presley and the utterly dismal music he released from Las Vegas ? This album can be put in the same file. I do not know if David Bowie was angling for a spot in one of Las Vegas hotels. Thankfully, he did not end up there. But this album is utter drivel and nothing else.
