4 stars What do you say when you listen to a live album with four of the best ever British jazz/fusion musicians ?

A big THANK YOU !!

Soft Machine Legacy consisted of four Soft Machine legends when they performed and recorded this live album. The material is mostly old Soft Machine songs. Not their most known songs, but still Soft Machine songs. Where the original band was hyper intense and maniac, Soft Machine Legacy is more laid back. It is like adding a drop of water to whisky. It brings out the whisky's flavours. And that is what Soft Machine Legacy is all about in my view. That and simply having fun. The fun factor shines through like a sun at this live album. You can hear and feel how much fun the four musicians have together. But it is also very rewarding and fun to listen to this album. For example Has Riff, 1212 and Kings & Queens. Excellent stuff.

The interplay between the musicians is excellent and they all do their best to create this great live album. Unfortunate; Elton Dean and Hugh Hopper is no longer with us. But this live album is a just tribute to them.

File this live album among the best retrospective Soft Machine live albums out there.
