2 stars What a kind of disappointing album ! My second two stars rating, but the first one given without any internal conflict !

Crime Of The Century days had vanished in the past. Poppy approach are strong than ever. But if this strategy worked well for Breakfast in America, what worked wrong here ?

When an album like Breakfast in America get a good level of acceptance in proggy ears, it is not due to bandīs history and skills, but mainly due to the quality of involved songs. BiA is a strong album because it has songs crafted deeply well, no matter if they are too poppy or not. Unfortunately for proggy lovers, most of songs inserted in Famous Last Words have poor quality here. What we have are many easy listening tunes, some others melancholically boring; it seems that Rick and Roger lacked good inspirations here required for performing their compositions in their traditional level.

One more comment may be relevant for this album. The two last songs, Waiting So Long and Donīt Leave Me Now , could be properly placed in any of Supertrampīs best efforts. Even in Crime Of The Century they wouldnīt be out of order. But IMHO it only decreases quality of Famous Last Words. It seems to me that Rick&Roger have made a kind of joke, saying ok, this is pop, but we still know how to rock if we want. To my great disappointment, it seems they didnīt want. Two stars only.
