2 stars There are some good songs on this album which come over well live- Mr1470, Emperor's Song, Pipeline..... Raw Meat is highly regarded amongst the fanbase but I personally much prefer the draft version on live cd 'Toiling in the Reeperbahn'. This album marked Fish's first on his own label. It got comparatively big promotion and went top twenty in the UK but unfortunately it probably ultimately only turned off fans hoping for a return to the form of 'Vigil' after 'Internal Exile' and 'Songs From..' had generally confused people about Fish's direction. The fact that the simply awful 'No Dummy' was being planned as a single only emphasised this confusion. By the time the impressive 'Sunsets..' came out in '97 many fans had moved on.

The production is the biggest villain on this album, and with no Simmonds, Watson or Wilson to co-write all-in-all it's probably the weakest solo studio album
