3 stars Nova Art is a progressive metal band from Russia formed around 2000 by Andrey Nova who's main goal was to have a modern band where he can incorporated all his influences gathered across the years like progressive metal, heavy rock and even some alternative elements. They release so far 2 albums, one in 2005 and second in 2009 named Follow yourself by Soyuz Music/My Kingdom Music label. Well, to tell from the beggining what's bodering me with this rlease and in fact with all rleases of this kind is, I'm not a big fan of this moder progressive metal aproach, they are something between Pain of Salbation, a band that never was one of my fav from the genre and here and there I can here some Osada Vida influences and even Dream Theater in thier more roughr attitude, the result is Nova Art. Ok, if the guitar, drums and vocal parts aswell are on modern side of prog metal a thing not quite enjoyble by me, but not bad at all, I like lot what is going on on keybords, realy, Konstantn Sdobnov has some realy fantastic escapades, not far from what polish Osada Vida done on their second album, Three seats, great interplay with the rest of the musicvians, and some realy intristing keyboards chops here, but not entirely used at full capacity. The voice of Nova is ok, but nothing realy sopecial, I like on prog metal the voice little more elaboraded more complex in ton, anyway a good vocalist. All the pieces are under 6 min, so not a very complex album, has some more demanding parts from the listner, but overall is a quite usual prog metal release and main target is moder progresive metal public, the more younger ones I guess who can enjoy this kind of prog metal more then those like me who are nearly 35 in age. So, overall a good relase, but nothing more, usual stuff. A thing that must be mentioned as booklet said here are some guests invited, among other is the famous Devon Graves on track 6 and 8 no one else then the main man of Dead Soul Tribe and and ex Psychotic Waltz member a great contribution to the Nova Art sound on this album. 3 stars album to me, good but not realy my cup of prog metal I want to hear constantly, nice cover art btw.
